or you just plug in another
or you just plug in another in one of the usb ports...
Everyone of course keeps
Everyone of course keeps extra webcams on hand for just this situation.
well, you have to pay extra
well, you have to pay extra for it in the first place on the pc.... so why not? If you actually use a webcam for anything....
yes
We all have gobs of money to buy extra web cams at a moment's notice. Good show.
Yeah...
Because we all want to spend money to replace a warrantied item.
Yeah, because...
the embedded webcams in the iMac are SO prone to breaking, and are SO important for most people's day to day computer use. Find me a few people who have actually had this problem, and I'll think about laughing, once I stop ogling your horrid design work.
who else finds this funny?
for god sakes, its funny.
someone tell the hardcore mac users that its a joke, and to be comfortable in their masc--oh, wait - its just their computer. I laugh when people tell me windows is shitty (and i agree when they talk about vista)
What are you on about? Vista
What are you on about? Vista is good! Xp, thats shit! Macs rock simply cus there easy on the eyes! Also, does anyone ever need there webcam for..... anything?
LOL
all webcam porn users need one
Boohoo...someone so pissed
Boohoo...someone so pissed off, eh?? Simply accept that each one has its own advantage and drawbacks...don't be silly!!
Awesome. I'm ready for the
Awesome. I'm ready for the apple nerds to get bent.
I think the point is that,
I think the point is that, while having everything combined into one unit is a great idea in theory, a more modular, peripheral-based solution is more practical in the end. Very well put.
How is it more practical?
How is it more practical? Incur loss of desk space and a need to clean around zillions of wires to avoid some rare edge case inconveniences? I'm no fanboy, but this is just silly.
sorry
Sorry but Mac hardware is INSANELY prone to breaking, I don't have a single friend who has owned an apple product and hasnt had to return it at least once, often two or three times. My wife has replced her ipod so many times its bordering on insanity. Now shes just given up and its a pretty paper weight. When you pay 50 - 100% more for hardware that does the same or less than another nearly identically powerful pc, why is it that you have to send it in for repair more often? Shouldn't apple concentrate a little more on quality if they are going to charge premium prices?
I've never had a problem. I
I've never had a problem. I had my iPod for 3 years before upgrading, I've had my PowerBook G4 for 2.5 years (with tons of dents, and it's been dropped about a gazillion times) and it's working better than any PC I've ever had.
me too
I have the 2nd model ipod ever made and it still works... too many years to count
I helped set up a network of
I helped set up a network of imacs in a public school when they first came out... about a third of them had problems brand new out of the box. Also, none of them came with 3.5" floppy drives... this was when people still had a lot of data on floppies... so now you have a 3.5" drive sitting on your desk next to your imac... stupid. I also remember going through their 'dead mac' room and pulling working network cards out of dead macs to install in the machines around the school with bad network cards.
I prefer PCs. I use winxp because it works. It's so much nicer when lots of companies can compete over a product then when one company tries to make it where nobody else is allowed to mess with their hardware. Apple just sucks because they won't let anyone else play with their hardware... how are they going to compete against the rest of the world?.
Agreed
Hat's off to you. Another point about competition, while i dont particularly like m$'s monopoly on PC's (as well as apple's one on macs), having a standard on manufacturing specifications (e.g. all mobo's are ATX, most VGA's use PCI-e) allows better quality control, customisation, and most importantly competitive prices if your willing to put in some elbow grease ^_^.
while the above example is only a with a web cam, think of the implications that having so much hardware integrated into one box has: If the LCD goes, you'll need to pay a mint to replace it on the mac, not to mention the service time and hassle with customer support. PC, if it breaks, go out and buy a new monitor, plug and play, and you can get it up and running in less than an hour.
Honestly, while apple do have style, they certainly arent as practical and cost effective vs a PC when it comes actually using one.
Not true
"while apple do have style, they certainly arent as practical and cost effective vs a PC when it comes actually using one."
This is just not true.

"to many years to count"
You can't even count to 10 and you expect us to respect your opinion.... oh geezz.
hehe sorry, thought it was funny.. just kidding anyways :)
Lesson Learned
This is why you aren't supposed to give technology to a woman.

Fucking sexist ass-hole.

I have owned an iPod for
I have owned an iPod for years, 2 iMacs and a Macbook pro and have never sent any of them back for repairs. Of course, we are not friends, but I think this puts a hole in your theory.
I don't have a single friend
I don't have a single friend
That's because you suck at
That's because you suck at life. it has nothing to do with macs.
are you joking?
My family has used mac for over 30 years now and we've never had a problem with the hardware. Macs are much more reliable than stupid Dell computers. When I used my modem, it broke a month after being used, and then the desktop fried my keyboard. Macs are so much nicer. They may not have the same power a pc does, but based upon my experience with both and other family and friends, macs are way more reliable. I'll never buy another Dell again.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. THE DESKTOP FRIED HIS KEYBOARD. You sir are my new favorite person.

one is a computer and the other is a computer, id say youre comparing apples to apples, fuck face.
so is the picture. a mac
so is the picture. a mac pro, which would be comparable to a dell desktop, would not have this problem.
no, he's comparing apples
no, he's comparing apples and dells
lol

that just made this whole
that just made this whole internet argument hilarious
Hahaha that really did make
Hahaha that really did make the whole argument hilarious, I literally cracked up for a second, my coworkers probably think I'm crazy..
silly. webcams are so cheap,
silly.
webcams are so cheap, you go buy another one instead of sending it in for repair. Plus, the webcams on macs are not prone to breakage. more fud.
Mac webcams are
Mac webcams are exponentially more expensive than PC webcams even though they have the same hardware inside.
Usually when I go to a retail outlet like Best Buy they'll have one "mac" webcam that retails for $150 to $300 and at least five "PC" webcams that go for $20 to $80.
It's because Mac users *will* pay more for the same crap.
All Apple has going for them is their operating system and their "better than you" attitude, and you can easily run their operating system on most newer PCs.
Someday soon people are going to start thinking, "hey, wait. I just threw away my fifth iPod. Why don't I just get a music player that functions like an iPod and has a little slot I can put more music space into."
PC webcams work on a Mac.
PC webcams work on a Mac. Research your topic before you make fanboy statements
not a laptop...
its not a laptop in the picture.... otherwise it wouldn't make sense. don't bring laptops into this!!
When was the last time that
When was the last time that it was actually the camera that was broken and not some stupid driver problem? All in one is fine for most consumers.
Obviously you're not rich
Obviously you're not rich enough to own a mac.
I all comes down to
I all comes down to this:
Integrated: Beautiful, clean, nice, slick, cool, smooth, design
Modular: ugly, messy, wires all over the place, functional ... yes that can be partly solve with wireless but you change/charge batteries all the time, not very ecological and also a big hassle.
Last time my LCD screen died on me after the warranty expired of course (last year)...I went to the store to buy a new one, end of story. if that happens with a MAC...well, you can figure out yourself what happens. I can sacrifice beauty and design for functionality. I've had the "same" computer for the past 5 years...parts I haven't upgraded/changed: case, RAM, HD, burner, dvd-rom the end.
Almost brand new state of the art gaming pc every year an half for 800$ CDN MAX...try to do that with a slick well designed MAC! ;)
Resale value
Macs have resale value like Harley Davidson motorcycles. You can sell your old mac for about 60-80% of its new price, depreciating about 10-20% per product cycle, depending on build options. So, you can get a brand new mac every year for less than 50% of its sticker price--usually closer to 25%. That means a brand new Mac Pro every year and a half for US$800.
AHAHA
You HAVE to be kidding, the only people that will buy an old mac are poor people, and they buy pc's. Who are you trying to convince here? Mac fanboy's will buy new mac's only, because the only reason they buy them at all is the shiny factor - old aint shiny dude.
I had at least a dozen Macs
I had at least a dozen Macs (and a couple of PCs) and I've never bought a new one. I had an SE up to a cube (my current Mac) and I've been happy with all. I've also run different os's on all of them (Linux, Unix, Windows 98,ME,XP,Mac OS 7,8,9, and X). OS X is the best system of them all and runs fine on my "old" cube.
