Argentina
Chile
Brazil
Iraq
Guatemala (attempt)
Further action in the name of anti communism happened in:
Dominican Republic

Bolivia
Uruguay

Mostly it involved supporting a military dictatorship to overthrow a democratically elected president.
There has been a push for Venezuela lately too.
Usually the state signs of communism were stuff like
Designation of state parks and national preserves through land reform
Public water (in the case of Bolivia and the Bechtel water wars of the late 1990s)
Public Education (Stated as a sign of leftist leaning in the coup of Chile that put Pinochet in)
The logic was if president of X cared too much about country X, then he didn't care enough about the United States and was therefore pro-soviet since there was a binary of either "US or Soviet" placed in our minds, and therefore a direct threat to the US.
Let me run this down again
So the president of Bolivia would do Bolivian reform, which would be of no benefit to the US.
Therefore he is anti-US
Anti-US is equated to pro-Soviet
Therefore land reform has something to do with moscow.
It's the broken rationale used for colonialism after World War 2 in the name of communism - at least this was the stated goal for Bernay's when he proposed it as the rationale to use in the 1950s.
This isn't hypothesis, this is now disclosed as official policy. This was the system that was officially used. It's not theory, it's historical fact. It's admitted openly now that the american people were tricked with a war on communism in order to back colonialism. It's not theory, it's fact.

Exactly. I'd like to add something. Said military coups used the armed forces against their own people. Here in Argentina there were around 30 thousand "desaparecidos", people kinapped by the para-military taskforces created by the goverment to "fight communism". The "desaparecidos", or missing ones, are called that way because in many cases the bodies were never found. Dropped to the sea, buried on common graves still hidden, who knows.
Many (if not all) of the kidnapped were civilians who never had anything to do with communism, the guerrillas, or even crossing a red light. The military paranoia took the lives of thousands of innocents. What for?
So that the USA companies could rape the country's natural resources. To fight a threat that never existed.
I feel sorry for the soldiers sent to die to a desert wasteland in the middle of nowhere, but the US had this coming from a long time ago.

i am not the above poster, but as you talk about "euro-trash": we know saddam hussein became the dictator to rule the irak because of the support from US as long as he did what they want. And the US are big in Size, but i know so called "banana republics" who have more wise leaders. Oh, i have been in the US for about a year and everyone i got to know was very friendly and supportive to me. It's a great country.

You should read up on the history of "Banana Republic"... the quick summary: typically the banana republic dictators that you speak of were historically installed *by* the US to protect their "interests" (AKA banana companies) The term "Banana Republic" wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the US gov't.
