23 years ago, blacks didn't have rights in South Africa
Today, a black man is poised to become the next President of the United States.
There's still some hope for this world.
Obama's black?
Why is he more black than white? His mother was a white woman from Kansas. His white grandfather fought in WWII.
Appearance is all it takes.
Appearance is all it takes.
Really?
See, I thought he was 50/50 black/white.
Definitely a great time to be an American.
How it should be!
How it should be!
23 Years?
Uh... black people in South Africa didn't get equal rights until 1994. Don't know where 23 years come from.
Viva the internets.
Yes, 23 years.
This photo was taken 23 years ago, which is what the comment was referring to. Not the end of apartheid.
Viva reading comprehension.
Oh Yeh........see whats happend now in that very same country?
Yes, this was wrong we regret our past mistakes signs like this should never have been devised in the first place. But since then crime, corruption, government embesselment, sever poverty, AID's and the decline of healthcare, Infrastructure failure, no electricity and general decay. Its still a beautiful county despite being Hijacked twice and had friends killed also family members robbed at gunpoint. We still live here and feel unfairly criticised for the past We cant get jobs to feed our families due to Black Empowerment rules. But hey no where to go because no one likes former white South Africans. The strongest will survive. Our black friends of whom we have many are suffering the wrongs of the present regime as much as we do. Where to from now? NOT A LOT HAS CHANGED FOR THE BETTER IT IS WORSE FOR ALL COLOURS NOW!
It's a forgone conclusion-
It's a forgone conclusion- South Africa is well on it's way to joining another African utopia, Zimbabwe. Both will be reliant on Western (U.S. and EU) financial, food and medical assistance and in perpetual custodial care of whites. So not a lot has changed. The primary difference is that the caregivers are now outside the nation's borders, and the misery index is off the charts.
Obama?????
Do you think things will change in the world if Obama comes in to be the next president? I doubt it very much he hasn't the pull in the rest of the world and will only sink deep dark Africa even deeper. Perhaps will spend more time in Africa trying to right the wrongs than he will in our own country USA.
I know about how the current South African President did just that he has spent no time looking after his own and more time trying to solve other African countries wars. They now have no electricity because he wouldn't free funds and listen to his own people.
They are hosting a big world wide football event in 2010 and one wonders if they really can as their water is now also in crisis. The new upcoming president has been accused of Rape and money laundering he is also believed to have also dealt in heroin trafficking. How will Obama react to this or will he keep America to America and not interfere in other countries like our past presidents?
Just a sceptic.................?
The "football event" you
The "football event" you mention has already been outsourced to Germany- who will come in and manage the event for South Africa.
Foot Ball event with no power
Well that may work if Germany has been outsourced to run this event but who is going to go to that country and be threatened, mugged and possibly raped. Aids is so rampant there I wouldn't set foot back there. Been there several times and each time I visit it gets worse. We had no electricity for 5 hours in a top 5 star hotel the restaurants were closed and there was no food. Cant see how the Germans can remedy that for the fans of football.
