United States Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has decided to change his name to Barry Oberman to make himself more electable, the Democratic contender told reporters today.
"Barack Hussein Obama," Mr Oberman said. "Sounds like a cross between an African dictator and an Islamic terrorist. But Barry H. Oberman is memorable."
When asked what the middle initial "H." stood for, Mr. Oberman responded: "What does H. in Jesus H. Christ standfor?"
The single term Senator claimed that he dropped the middle name "Hussein" particularly because it had anti-sematic connotations.
"Suicide bombers named Hussein are attacking Israel on a daily-basis, killing innocent women and children with the intention of stealing Jewish land," Mr. Oberman said. "An Oberman administration would achieve peace in the Middle East by applying pressure on the Palestinians to end their illegal land grabbing and settlement activities."
Replying to a question by a reporter on whether the US was ready for a black President, Mr. Oberman replied in the negative.
"If I were black, I would have waited at least twenty years more before running for President," Mr. Oberman said.
