Meet Ben Tyler. He's 18 years old.
At least that's what he tells all the girls he meets online. Ben Tyler's alter-ego, 46-year-old laborer Michael Joseph Smith of Middlesex, England, has been convicted of a dozen counts of sexual activity with a child under age of 16, of grooming minors over the Internet, and possessing child porn. He has been given an indeterminate sentence, with a minimum of three-years.
Young Mr. Tyler was caught driving in an uninsured car, with a 15-year-old girl. The girl went on to tell the police that Smith has forced her to engage in sexual activity with him on a number of occasions between Sept 2006 and January 2008.
"They never believed for one minute they would be speaking to a predatory paedophile and that he would go on to violate their trust," Detective Sergeant John Price said. "I believe there may be more young girls who have been affected by the dreadful actions of this man."
Police are urging other girls victimized by this man to come forward.
